October 2020

 We've just returned from Ocala

where we finished installing

Astronaut Academy

at the Discovery Center!

We also made a replica of the NASA

Mission Control Center:

And we built our first ride!

The International Space Station

Micro-Gravity Simulator:

Kids can pull themselves along through the ISS fuselage

on a custom NASA automotive creeper.

We also made mobiles of the ISS, Hubble telescope,

and Voyager probe.

Hubble telescope:

Our friend Teri LeMarco helped us paint

some backdrops for photo opportunities on Mars and the Moon.

Martian landscape with

RC Rover Curiosity course:

Lunar backdrop with RC Rover course:

We designed and built a

Gravity Simulator with lunchboxes:

 a Wormhole portal:

and we turned the building's elevator into a Space Shuttle

with instrument panels:

This project was probably the most fun yet.

We love working with the staff at

Ocala's Discovery Center to design exhibits!

Our next newsletter will have all kinds of behind the scenes

and making-of photos with links to videos on our

YouTube channel.

The music business is recovering

and we've been thrilled to play a couple of

outdoor events this month!

We live-streamed for the

Sing Out Loud Festival

at the St. Augustine Amphitheater's

Back Porch Stage

the last weekend of September

and you can watch Stephen's performance here!

*    *    *    *    *

We also played

The St. Augustine Alligator Farm's

and had a great setup in their amphitheater!

Which means we also got to visit our mural!

*     *    *    *    *

We have a few more upcoming October gigs:

Casa Maya downtown on Hypolita St.

on the 14th, 21st, and 28th from 6 to 10pm.

June 2020

Hello friends,

We have been busy over the past few weeks

completing a permanent public art installation for the

Ocala Recreation & Parks Department!

We designed and built 57 custom acoustic panels

for the stage of the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center

to host the Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series!

The final product is 16 feet tall and 80 feet wide!

In Progress:

Prepping the 2x6 lumber frame:

Anchoring the frame to the concrete block wall:

Panels packed and ready for transport:

Attaching individual panels to the lumber frame:

Special thanks to Meagan Gumpert with MAVEN Photography!

Next up, we're onto Phase II of the Croskey project which includes

rafter traps (acoustic boards hung from the ceiling)

and corner traps in the basketball court

that makes up most of the building.

Our Astronaut Academy exhibit was delayed,

but now we have a new opening date of October 3rd!!

We'll be putting the finishing touches on our pieces,

then transporting and installing them

at the end of September.

*    *    *    *     *

We are incredibly grateful to have weathered

these past few months as well as we have,

and we never could have built our own business

and independent workshop without your support.

Thank you again and we reeeeaaaallllllly hope

to see you on the road SOON!

Rock on!

Stephen and Jessica

We just got our first confirmation of a live gig in May!

In Scenic Art news:

We delivered the first batch of our

Astronaut Academy exhibit pieces this week!

We'll miss the Mission Control Center base:

Mission Control display flats:

Solar System model flats and base:

and the hemisphere models

It's in pieces right now and we can't wait

to see it all assembled in Ocala!

*    *    *    *    *

The opening of this exhibit has been delayed by a few weeks,

so we'll be switching gears to complete our next project

for the Ocala Recreation & Parks Department:

a permanent sound-absorbing art installation

on the stage of the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center in Ocala,

before delivering the final pieces of Astronaut Academy.

We are sleeping, cooking, eating, walking, reading,

building, sculpting and painting our way through this

quarantine, and we hope you and yours are

finding some peace during these strange times.

We REALLY hope to see you on the road soon! Rock on!

April 2020

Greetings from Pigtopia,

     We hope this finds you all healthy and rested.

A lot has changed since our last newsletter,

and we are grateful to have ongoing projects

in our private workshop so we can get

out of the house and keep ourselves safe and

productive at the same time.

Astronaut Academy is taking shape

in the form of foam and fiberglass interface panels,

gravity simulator,

and Mission Control mock up.

The opening of the exhibit has been pushed back a little,

but we are still on track to install it at the end of April

at Ocala's Discovery Center.

*    *    *    *    *

Our sound-absorbing panels are being prepped for

fabrication over the next few weeks

and we can't wait to post pictures of our process!

Our fabric should be here next week

and our design will start to take shape!

 Although our music scene is on hiatus for now,

we'll still be making lemonade by writing, recording, and streaming

as the muse dictates.

Check out our Sunday brunch Facebook livestreams

here and here

Our tour has been postponed,

but we'll keep you posted on new dates

as the future comes into focus.

In the meantime. . .

The good news is we've done tons of yard work

and fencing at the house

and we'll continue piddling around

for as long as it takes!

We've even been camping in the backyard for a few days now. . .

We hope you're all holding up well,

staying safe and sane, and tapping into your own

creative flow with this change of pace.

We reeeeeaaally hope to see you on the road soon! Rock on!

Peace and love,

Stephen and Jessica

March 2020

Good news!

  The amaryllis is blooming!

and our Astronaut Academy exhibit

for Ocala's Discovery Center

is in high gear!

We are building and painting flats with our friend Teri LaMarco:

HellMouth for the Wormhole portal:

Delta nonchalantly traveling across the universe:

Deep space background:

Mission Control:

and we're building the wormhole shortcut through space and time!

This is the flat background coat, next we'll scenic the whole tube.

We're also in the middle of constructing the

ISS Spacewalk Low-Gravity Simulator ride.

No pictures yet. . .but it's fun, we promise.

This exhibit is going to fill a gym,

so we have a few more pieces to construct,

plus some replicas to hang as mobiles from the rafters!

*     *     *     *     *

We also received the Notice to Proceed

on our other contract with Ocala,

our sound-absorbing public art installation

on the stage at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center,

so we'll be starting production on it next week.

*     *     *     *     *

Our scenic arts business has a few more projects in the pipeline,

and we will be letting the cats out of the bag ASAP!

In our music scene,

Stephen Pigman Vibrations

     Hope to see you on the road! Rock on!

Peace and love,

Stephen and Jessica

November 2019

Seasons Greetings,

We are so grateful to be busy this fall!

We have new projects and partnerships

for our company to celebrate!

*     *     *     *     *

We are happy to announce we have

a new partnership with First Coast Opera

to do scenic design, fabrication, and stage-management

for their current season.

We just completed our first production with them:

a dinner theatre production of La Boheme!

The setting is a Parisian apartment

overlooking 1830s Montmartre,

so we draped the set in canvas

and made two huge French windows

with scenes including La Basilique du Sacre Couer,

Notre-Dame du Paris, and le Arc de Triomphe.

(Construction on the Eiffel Tower didn't start until 1887,

so she didn't make it into our landscape this time.)

*     *     *     *     *

We are also already working on their next production:

Gilbert & Sullivan's

H.M.S. Pinafore

We'll build gunwales, a poop deck with cabins, masts

and a bow to frame the action on this fictional brigantine.

The show runs January 4th and 5th

at Flagler College's Lewis Auditorium

and tickets are already available here

*     *     *     *     *
   This Halloween we also partnered with

Radioactive Horror Events

out of Gainesville, FL

 to design and build two life-size

creepy clowns for their haunted circus!

It was pretty awesome having them

hang out on our couch for a few weeks;

we'll miss Uncle Chuck and Aunt Frank.

*     *     *     *     *

As soon as HMS Pinafore opens,

we'll be moving on to our next project for

the City of Ocala's Discovery Center

"Astronaut Academy"

will run from April 11 to July 27, 2020

and we are currently designing and drafting

our installation!

*     *     *     *     *

Our "In the Moment" Arts Education project

has also booked a musical performance and

song-writing workshop at

Volusia County Public Library

for next summer's educational series for school kids!

*     *     *     *     *

We have a couple other projects in the works,

but you'll have to stay tuned for

the official announcements once the deals are inked. . .

As for our music. . .

Relix Magazine

will be featuring

Stephen Pigman Vibrations

in their December collector's issue

commemorating lyricist Robert Hunter!!

*     *     *     *     *

We also haven't slowed down our gig schedule,

so here are our November shows

including new venues in Florida and Georgia!

Down Under Restaurant

in Fernandina Beach

on November 7th at 5pm;

Trader's Bar

in New Smyrna Beach

on the 8th at 6pm;

in Boca Raton

on the 9th at 8pm;

Uptown Swinery

in St. Augustine

on the 15th at 7pm;

Pusser's Bar & Grille

in Ponte Vedra Beach

on the 24th at noon;

     That's our news for this month, and we couldn't have done

any of it without you! We are so thrilled to have projects lined up all the

way through June of 2020!! We love being back in St. Augustine for

good - tackling projects in our new home workshop and office space,

networking with local artists and businesses, and hanging out downtown

for inspiration! This city gives us life and energy and we're incredibly

grateful for the support our local community provides.

            Rock on! We hope to see you on the road!

Peace and love,

Stephen and Jessica

September/October 2019

Happy Fall!

We are settled back in St. Augustine

and filling up our fall, winter and spring schedule.

*     *     *     *     *

We just played the Hope for Hope Town

benefit concert for Abacos at Colonial Oak Music Park

to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Dorian

in the Bahamas. St. Augustine showed up and showed out

with their generous support for our neighbors.

We're so proud to be a part of this event and this community!

*     *     *     *     *

We're also stoked about our event coming up

at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak!

On October 4th and 5th we'll be celebrating

Stephen's 40th birthday

and our wedding anniversary

with live music from the incomparable Custard Pie

Ben Strok + the Full Electric, the Chelsey Michelle Band

and Stephen Pigman himself!

Reserve a spot and come celebrate and camp with us!

*     *     *     *     *

We've also been added to the bill

for the Alligator Farm's annual

Croctoberfest on October 12th!

This is a great way to support not only this legendary local attraction,

but all your favorite local breweries in one spot, too!

And if that's not enough, you can also join us at

Florida's largest Octoberfest!!

*     *     *     *     *

And the good news just keeps coming!

Home Grown Music Network is now distributing

our original music to over 100 radio stations all around the country!

So call up your local station, request your favorite tracks,

and let's get some airplay!

The arts side of our music & arts company is also thriving!

Our exhibit's run at Ocala's Discovery Center

is coming to a close on September 21st.

It's bittersweet, but they've already asked us

to start designing another exhibit for the spring!!!

 We'll be creating planets, stars, galaxies,

gas clouds, spaceships and more for the

"Astronaut Academy"

opening in April!! We are so stoked!

*     *     *     *     *

We're also finishing up our life-size creepy clown props

for Orlando's Radioactive Horror Events!

We can't wait to share the final product,

and we're also offering these life-size posable figures

for Halloween decorations!

Email us at pigmansmusicartscompany@gmail.com

if you're interested in taking your spooky decor

to the next level this season!

*     *     *     *     *

In the meantime, we are looking for local mural

or scenic work in and around St. Augustine.

We offer interior and exterior murals; faux finishes like stone, brick,

marble, wood; lawn decorations; custom handmade

hand-painted furniture; holiday decor; fiberglass sculptures;

and hand-painted signs and lettering.

If your friends or family are looking for artwork,

June/July/August 2019

The last 3 months have been the busiest of our lives!

We completed and installed our

interactive "Sense-sational" exhibit

for the City of Ocala's Discovery Center

Open through September 21st!

*    *    *    *    *

This project gave us so many

amazingly fun challenges

. . . like foam and fiberglass sculptures!

Jessica's carving polystyrene foam blocks on mounting plates.

Stephen's shaping with a wire brush.

Jessica's filling and perfecting the fiberglass coating.

Stephen's sanding for daaayyyysssss.

Jessica's finally painting!

Finished Product!!

We also got to build the custom flats for our pentagon from scratch,

a working Chladni plate that translates sound into patterns,

and a giant brain mobile!!

All created at Sanchez Studios in St. Augustine, FL!

And in the middle of all this,

we bought a house!!

(This is an actual picture of our actual yard, y'all. It's awesome.)

We are so elated to come home

to St. Augustine to grow our business,

but that means we've had to say goodbye to

Flagler Playhouse

after 2 lovely seasons full of sets like

Sweeney Todd

The Wizard of Oz, Jr.

and The Foreigner.

We'll miss all the friends we've made

in the Flagler County theater community,

and we can't thank them enough

for their hospitality and support over the past 2 years!

Next up for us is

our Summer Tour!

We'll be heading out to

Ponte Vedra Beach

at Pusser's Bar and Grille

on July 27th at 7pm,

on August 2nd at 6:30pm,

Augusta, GA

at Southbound Smokehouse

on August 3rd at 6pm,

Hilton Head Island, SC

at Fishcamp on Broad Street

on August 4th at 7pm,

Myrtle Beach, SC

at Island Bar and Grill

on August 5th at 6pm

and the 6th at 7pm,

Beaufort, SC

at Fishcamp on 11th St

 and finally back to

St. Augustine

at Casa Monica Resort & Spa

on August 10th at 8pm.

*     *     *     *     *

As soon as we get back,

we'll start our next commission

Welcoming the Halloween season with

some creepy life-size clowns

for Radioactive Horror Events!

Woohoo!!!!!! It's so disturbing and exciting!

     We had such a whirl-wind of projects for the past 3 years and there's no way we could have done it without your love, encouragement, and constant support. If you haven't yet, please subscribe to our YouTube channel, like our Facebook pages and come see us at a gig! We hope to see you on the road! Rock on!

April 2019

Truth be told, we had a great month. . .

We've been picked up by the

Home Grown Music Network!

HGMN is a music marketing and distribution outfit

based in North Carolina. They specialize in promoting

bands on the festival and jam band circuits

with radio play, album reviews, distribution, and advertising.

Keep an eye out for their tent at festivals!

They also have a network of venues throughout the country

to help musicians tour!

Their criteria: bands whose music moves them,

who tour frequently, have a good following,

and have the potential for growth.

We've been invited to join after running the gauntlet!!!

First of all,

Happy Birthday Stephen!

This month we are also celebrating our

1st Wedding Anniversary!

so we're headed back to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park

for a few days of camping at the Suwannee Roots Revival Festival

Next, we're headed over to the west coast of FL for a weekend mini-tour

at Wekiva Island on October 19th

Crabby Bill's Off the Hook in Westchase,

and Florida's Oldest Craft Brewery

The Dunedin Brewery on the 21st!

Back at Flagler Playhouse, Sweeney Todd's run is almost over

and we are so proud of the set!

We are already prepping the set for

Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang,

Then our company is set to direct, design, paint and costume

this year's Christmas play,

before we tackle the abstract dreamscape of Tennesee William's

next Spring!

How exciting is that?

We had a lovely week to wrap up September,

playing at the St. Augustine Amphitheater's Night Market

on The Front Porch stage,

and patronizing ALL the local food vendors

We both had delectable banh mis from The Bullet food truck

and a heavenly fresh iced ginger tea from

Cultivate Tea & Spice Co.

plus an amazing sweet, spicy, bitter Kenyan coffee

and Polish puff pastries filled with cherries and berries!

We meant, of course, to take pictures of it all but we just ate it instead.

We also played the San Sebastian Winery's rooftop deck

at Prohibition Kitchen and A1A Ale Works

with Funk Butter

. . . not to mention the Alligator Farm's Croctoberfest

where we discovered and subsequently suckled

Wicked Barley Brewing Company's

The Eradicator

and Atlantic Beach Brewing Company's

Two Minutes Session IPA.
